A Glorious Culmination: Celebrating 90 Years of Christ the King Church, Malaparamba- Sooraj Dominic, SJ

The grand closing ceremony of the 90th Jubilee Year celebration of Christ the King Church, Malaparamba, took place on the 19th of May, 2024, marking the end of a year-long series of commemorative events. The day's festivities commenced with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Provincial E P Mathew SJ, setting a reverent tone for the occasion. Following the Mass, the historical exhibition "Jesuits in Malabar" was inaugurated, offering an in-depth exploration of the Jesuits' missionary endeavors and contributions to the region.








Dr. Beena Philip, the Mayor of Kozhikode Corporation, inaugurated the subsequent public function. Her presence was important to the event, highlighting the Church's important role within the broader community. Msgr. Jenson Puthanveettil, Vicar General of the Diocese of Calicut, presided over the function, further emphasizing the event's spiritual and communal significance.
















A major highlight of the ceremony was the honoring of eight distinguished members of the Parish. These individuals were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the Church, the Parish, the community, and society at large. Their dedication and service were celebrated as exemplary models of faith and commitment.










Adding to the commemorative spirit, a Jubilee Souvenir was released, encapsulating the history, memories, and milestones of the Parish over the past 90 years. This souvenir serves as a lasting tribute to the enduring legacy of Christ the King Church.




The cultural program that followed was a vibrant showcase of talent and devotion. Youth, children, and parishioners performed a variety of acts, with the highlight being a short play titled "The Last Supper." The play captivated the audience with its powerful performances, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed it.

















The celebration concluded with a Snehavirunnu, where all attendees shared a sumptuous feast. This final act of fellowship and unity brought the joyous occasion to a close, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that has been the hallmark of Christ the King Church for nine decades.


The 90th Jubilee Year celebration has been a fitting tribute to the rich history and vibrant community of Christ the King Church, Malaparamba, setting a hopeful tone for the future as the Parish looks forward to many more years of faith and service.
